With elections all around us, it is easy to get swept up in everything going on. It is important to be involved in our communities, but it is also important as Christians to not get caught up in the fear and toxicity that is so prevalent around us. If many Republicans are to be believed then “America’s heartbeat is in a code red in need of a defibrillator to shock it back to life.” (Dr. Oz on why he is running). If some Democrats are to be believed then "Republicans will turn us into a fascist hellhole” (A Vanity Fair article). Yet, God's message is different.
2 Timothy 1:7 says “God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
We don’t need to panic about the state of our world, because we serve the one who has overcome the world. When we have a foundation that is rooted in Christ, we can be calm no matter what is going on around us, confident that God is in control and our fate is secure in his unfailing love.
So I encourage you to remain positive, because God has given us a lot to be positive about!
